Wear Sequins & Shop Local

Top: BP | Skirt: Old {similar here and here and love this one too!} | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Sunglasses: Amazon | Purse: Bought on our honeymoon in Phuket, Thailand {Love this and this purse}

If you only where sequins for formal occasions, you’re missing out! I bought this sequin skirt a couple of years ago at a boutique in Birkdale Village, and it’s perfect for happy hour or a fun lunch. The key to wearing sequins in the daytime without seeming overdressed is to pair them with lighter, airy pieces like this white open-shoulder top from Nordstrom (only $35! I have it in black as well). If you want to dress down the look more, you could wear embellished sandals or flats instead of heels and a straw or bamboo purse. I bought this purse on our honeymoon in Phuket, Thailand over 5 years ago – has anyone been? It’s amazing and a highly recommend it if you can handle the almost 24-hours of flying time from Charlotte.

On a more serious note, when I was was shooting in Birkdale Village last week I realized that another one of my favorite boutiques (Vanilla Brazil) has closed. This skirt was purchased at Apricot Lane which also closed their Birkdale location awhile back. I know that all of us (I’m a big-time offender) shop online but it’s really important to support the boutiques and businesses in our community as well. If we want these stores to stay open, WE need to be in there shopping and supporting them. I’m going to commit to shopping more local boutiques this summer and use my love for fashion to make a difference in my community. Will you join me?

Thanks so much for stopping by & have a great day!
