I hope that everyone is having a nice (short) week and is looking forward to Thanksgiving and of course, the biggest shopping weekend of the year!
Growing up, my family did the same thing every year for each holiday, and while it was fun I also knew that at some point I would want to make traditions of my own. After eleven years of living states away from my family and 8 years being married, our holidays look even more different than I could have imagined. Since Ryan works in medicine, our holidays look different every year. Ryan’s practice provides 24/7 coverage every day of the year (holidays included) so we always have to be flexible with how and when we’ll celebrate.
Last year Ryan had to work in the Emergency Room in the evening, so we got all dressed up and went to a fancy Thanksgiving brunch/lunch at the Club. This year, he has to work in the morning so I ordered our Thanksgiving Meal from Whole Foods and we’ll be hanging out at home in our comfy clothes and celebrating later.
What I always emphasize to our daughter is that it doesn’t matter where or when we celebrate each holiday – the important thing is that we’re all together. I know that we’ll always have to be flexible around the holidays, but I so admire how hard Ryan works and how willing he is to take care of patients no matter what day of the year it is! Also, I think it’s kind of fun to do different things each year.
This colorblock sweater & jeans combo is perfect for a casual Thanksgiving Day with family and friends. I love the chunky knit and the color palette works great for the end of Fall.
What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you do the same thing each year, or do you switch it up? No matter how you celebrate, I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with love, food and fashion.
